The Nursing Resource Assistant has the knowledge and ability to perform in the positions of Unit Secretary, Nursing Assistant, Obstetrical Technician, and/or Monitor Technician depending upon the individual needs of the patient care unit and the Nursing Department. Major functions will include coordination of the clerical and reception activities of the patient care unit; assistance in the delivery of patient care; assistance in the labor and delivery rooms; and/or observation and reporting of the electrocardiogram monitoring of the patients; all as delegated by the registered nurse.

Responsibilities
- 1. Assists the patient care unit and Nursing Department through the following activities:
- 1.1 Organizes and maintains the clerical activities as described for the Unit Secretary job description.

- 12. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient-s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient-s requirements relative to his or her specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/

EDUCATION
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED; and CNA, PCT, or other educational equivalent, i.e. Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, Student Nurse who has completed one semester of clinical experience.
EXPERIENCE
Successful completion of nursing assistant training, unit secretary training, obstetrical technician training, and/or monitor technician training.
SPECIAL SKILLS
The employee must be highly flexible and willing to perform each role as needed and directed depending upon the needs of the patient care unit and Nursing Department.
Must also have the following skills: Able to read, write and clearly speak the English language, basic clerical and computer skills, experience with medical terminology, knowledge of basic patient care and basic mathematical skills.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Standing/walking for more than half of the day. (Sitting for most of the day when working as a monitor tech.) Frequently bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting and lifting. Must be able to push/pull/lift patients ranging from five (5) to three hundred (300) pounds.
May be exposed to infectious diseases. Will be exposed to physical, mental and emotional illness as well as end of like conditions and death. Moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care.
