What We Are Looking For:

Panama City Housing Authority is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our team. This full-time position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, sanitary, and well-functioning housing for our residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in building maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and general repair work.

In this role, you will:

• Perform general maintenance and repair work in occupied and vacant housing units.
• Repair and replace doors, cabinets, window frames, flooring, roofing materials, and other structures.
• Install and maintain plumbing, HVAC systems, electrical components, appliances, and fixtures.
• Respond to work orders and emergency calls in a timely and professional manner.
• Renovate vacant units to prepare for new tenants, ensuring compliance with housing standards.
• Maintain tools, materials, and supplies in good working condition.
• Follow safety regulations and Housing Authority policies in all assigned work.
• Assist with cleaning and upkeep of common areas and building exteriors.
• Support inspections, documentation, and compliance with HUD and local building codes.

What You Need:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; certifications or training in maintenance or construction fields are a plus.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in general maintenance trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and painting.
• Familiarity with HUD housing quality standards and EPA lead paint regulations is preferred.
• Basic computer skills and comfort using software to track work orders and inventory.
• Valid Florida driver's license required with the ability to travel between properties.
• Ability to work independently and with a team while maintaining professionalism and efficiency.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical tasks, including walking, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
• Completion of Fair Housing training and other required courses within 90 days of hire.
