Role Definition
The Director of Supply Chain for Caterpillar's Earthmoving division will lead a team that oversees order-to-delivery and supply chain to ensure availability of material to support manufacturing globally and on-time delivery of machines to dealers and customers. This position collaborates with the team and partner functions to develop, implement and manage supply chain strategies and solutions to maintain and grow Caterpillar's competitive position.
The Earthmoving division is responsible for the products at the core of Caterpillar including Medium Tractor Products, Motor Graders, Medium Wheel Loaders, and Paving products), which includes the machines upon which our company was founded. Earthmoving serves dozens of industries and represents two brands, Caterpillar and SEM.
Earthmoving works collaboratively as one team to grow services and create solutions superior to the competition while sharing a purpose to help our customers build a better world.
Responsibilities
- Lead collaboration with product group, sales, engineering, operations, procurement, logistics, and distribution creating integrated processes to optimize the design and performance of the end-to-end value chain.
- Establish key performance metrics and benchmarks to guide supply chain planning and forecasting; drive actual performance vs target, and present results to senior management.
- Increase utilization of digital technologies across the value chain to drive continuous improvement in supply chain processes.
- Responsible for End-to-End Value Chain Design, Inbound Packaging Design, Assurance of Supply / Inventory Mgmt, Outbound Machine Distribution, Sale and Operations Planning and enabling World-class Product Availability.
- Develop and lead a lean, agile, and growth-minded culture.
Degree Requirement

• Designs effective forecasting approaches and methods; makes adjustments accordingly.
• Champions the use of alternative approaches and tools for forecasting.
• Consults on the issues, considerations and benefits of collaborative forecasting.
• Oversees all activities related to forecasting demand and production across multiple regions and plants.
Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability.
• Promotes the coordination of communications between multiple sites, e.g. flow of materials and backup.
• Oversees requirements planning for multiple sites and manufacturing facilities.
• Consults on demand forecasting and relating to production capacity and materials requirements.
• Creates mechanisms for flow of information between customers, suppliers and operations.
• Monitors MRP analytics; creates mechanisms to manage and improve the process.
• Leads decision making on what to build, how much to build and when it will be available.
Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
• Facilitates supplier partnering arrangements that share risk and reward.
• Monitors supplier performance; works to resolve discrepancies between performance and agreements.
• Develops quality standards and controls for suppliers.
• Builds and maintains partnerships with multiple and/or large suppliers.
• Evaluates issues and terminates supplier relationships as appropriate; works with legal departments.
• Ensures the fulfillment of report and record-keeping requirements.

Summary Pay Range:
$185, $278,160.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
