Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in various accounting disciplines, including financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and tax preparation. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects across corporate, non-profit, and governmental sectors, providing valuable experience in financial analysis, auditing, and software applications. The CPA will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulations, and supporting strategic financial decision-making.

Starting pay is $80,000/year with the opportunity of increase based on experience.

Hours are Monday-Friday, 7AM to 4PM

Duties

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger accounting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including bank reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Perform financial report writing and interpretation to inform management decisions.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting requirements for various sectors such as non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, or private equity firms.
  • Conduct audits and internal controls reviews to ensure compliance with SOX regulations.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms for bookkeeping and financial management.
  • Prepare tax returns and provide tax experience related to Wills, trusts & estate law as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to securities law and other relevant legal frameworks governing financial operations.
  • Mentor junior staff members on technical accounting practices including accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial concepts.
  • Support clients or internal teams with financial management strategies including cash flow analysis and financial statement interpretation.

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required.
  • Proven experience in public accounting or corporate finance with strong knowledge of GAAP standards.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance, LIHTC projects, non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, and securities law is preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or equivalent tools; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential.
  • Strong understanding of technical accounting principles including journal entries, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, accrual accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting requirements across different sectors is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Demonstrated mentoring abilities to guide junior staff or interns in technical accounting practices.
