Sr. Software Engineer – Remote PST

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with exceptional UI design and development expertise to join a mission-critical scrum team building a next-generation platform. This role will lead front-end development efforts for complex data visualization and user workflows in a React, Java/Spring full-stack application built on AWS infrastructure.  

The ideal candidate is a UI rockstar who can craft intuitive, performant interfaces for intricate genomic data, create seamless user experiences and elevate the visual and interactive design of our platform. Full-stack experience is a valuable bonus. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on healthcare outcomes by building software that powers life-changing genetic insights. 

 Essential Functions

  • Architect, develop, and enhance React and Java/Spring-based applications to support scientific workflows for variant identification, ranking, and reporting  
  • Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into well-defined technical solutions  
  • Lead design and development of scalable and maintainable solutions while ensuring system performance and security best practice
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, resolve bugs efficiently, and improve system reliability  
  • Advocate for best practices in software engineering, code quality, and automated testing
  • Other duties as assigned  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience   
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on UI development, full-stack application experience is a plus 
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead by example and mentor engineers
  • Strong expertise in cloud-based solutions and experience integrating third-party software into existing systems
  • Extensive experience in building service-oriented architectures and designing RESTful API services to support scalable and maintainable applications  
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges efficiently
  • Effective communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience and familiarity working in React or similar frontend technologies and Java / Spring 
  • Experience working with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) and NoSQL technologies (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Elastic Search etc.)

Preferred

  • Master's degree   
  • Experience in scientific, genomics, or healthcare-related applications is a plus  
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native applications on public cloud platforms such as AWS
