Estimator Assistant

As an Estimator Assistant at GarrettX, you will play a vital role in supporting our estimating team, actively contributing to the success of each project from the initial review of plans to bid submission and follow-up. This position goes beyond administrative support, offering a unique opportunity to work hands-on in pricing, bidding, and building critical relationships with subcontractors and vendors.

You will be responsible for reviewing project plans and ensuring initial accuracy, assisting in the creation of cost proposals, and communicating essential project information to subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and owners. Additionally, you will develop detailed scopes of work, review submitted proposals and organize all bid information for future reference. Your organizational skills and proactive approach will help us maintain a comprehensive overview of proposal status and ensure timely follow-ups.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support preconstruction and estimating functions, including performing takeoffs, developing proposals, and managing procurement activities.
  • Develop and maintain a historical cost database to inform future estimates.
  • Prepare and review cost proposals, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  • Foster strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams, representing GarrettX professionally in the community and at industry events.
  • Assist in the preparation of multiple estimates simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop construction budgets that correlate directly with estimates.
  • Prequalify subcontractors and collect bids as necessary.
  • Build and maintain a qualified pool of subcontractors for specific projects.
  • Standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility based on project needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the earthwork sector or a related field.
  • Proficiency in the construction takeoff and estimating process.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
