Job Summary:   The Warehouse Lead – Materials is responsible for leading the warehouse teammates in providing smooth, continuous and efficient Warehouse operations, managing the flow of product into and out of the warehouses.  The Warehouse Lead - Materials will oversee Warehouse Operations, operating forklifts, moving, researching, scanning and entering product as needed.  They will assist in training and providing work direction to warehouse staff, while remaining focused on opportunities to improve efficiency and processes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Leads and mentors the work of the warehouse teammates to ensure efficient, safe and prompt movement and recording of goods and products in and out of the Materials warehouse, training and sharing knowledge as applicable.
  • Prioritizes, delegates and coordinates daily tasks to the warehouse team, following up and providing guidance where needed.
  • Supports Management in efficient operation of the warehouse, acting as the Company representative in implementing and driving programs, initiatives and strategic directives.
  • Ensure inbound / outbound transportation movement is managed efficiently and thoroughly.
  • Primary Representative to coordinate with Procurement, Plant Warehousing, Quality, Customer Operations, Safety and Maintenance to ensure smooth, efficient and continuous production and warehouse operations.
  • Ensure that products meet all customer quality specifications before shipping.
  • Reviews, maintains and distributes all documentation, bills, invoices, etc., ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Determines material, equipment, and supplies to be used.  Transfers equipment and personnel from one project to another as needed.
  • Responsible for determining, researching and resolving inventory discrepancies, i.e. missing or incorrect Pallet Tags, Lot Numbers, Bin and Location displacement, and material usage.
  • Maintain inventory by conducting regular physical system cycle counts, reconciling variances and inputting data.
  • Communicate with the appropriate teams regarding Quality Holds, Inventory, and other issues as they arise.
  • Performs warehouse, BRC and 5S inspections as required.
  • Coordinates with Quality and external waste removal vendors to facilitate transport and destruction of outdated, damaged or defective materials and products.
  • Suggest/implement process improvements to operational procedures to proactively optimize overall location and item level accuracy.
  • Acts as the Company representative during external audits and/or inspections.
    • Escalates critical issues to Warehouse Management, including quality and/or safety issues as they arise.
    • Proactively seeks to correct unsafe conditions and reports any conditions that are not immediately resolved.
    • Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations when interacting with other personnel, contractors, customers, and the public.
    • Consistently supports Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) compliance, protecting the assets of the organization, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
    • Ensures that safety practices are properly followed, including adherence to proper PPE requirements, OSHA regulations, forklift and company equipment and personal safety policies, role modeling behavior and maintaining clean and organized workspaces.
    • Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to co-workers, customers, contracted providers, and vendors.
    • Maintain the warehouse and the Warehouse workstations in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
    • Able and willing to perform all tasks of warehouse teammates as needed.
    • Ensure that forklift operators are properly performing regular safety checks on their forklifts prior to operation.
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
  • Experience leading a team preferred. 
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule, as needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successfully works independently or on a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Follows 5S principles; embraces and practices continuous improvement program at Bowman Andros.
  • Previous experience in S2K and Warehouse Management Systems strongly preferred.
  • Ability to learn and use the company's warehousing software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are short and priorities change quickly.
  • Excellent planning, organizing and efficiency skills.
  • Takes the initiative and pro-actively seeks to resolve issues independently when discovered.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills (e.g. team building, conflict resolution)

Working Environment:  

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a teammate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The Warehouse Lead - Materials is required to work in an office, in the warehouse area and outside. While performing the duties of this job, the teammate frequently will be required to sit and stand, as well as being exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat and/or cold.  The teammate continuously works near moving mechanical parts.  The teammate will be exposed to loud noises from machinery and thus will be required to wear PPE.   The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be high at times due to mechanical equipment noise.

Physical Demands: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be performed by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the teammate is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, equipment or controls; reach with hands and arms; see, talk and /or hear. The teammate frequently is required to lift, climb, bend, or balance and stoop, kneel, sit, crouch, or crawl. The teammate is occasionally required to taste, touch or smell.  

The teammate will regularly need to lift up to 75 pounds and is required to get on and off a forklift regularly.
