As a Yard Manager, you will be the driving force behind the efficient management of our yard operations. Your leadership will ensure that all activities related to inventory control, shipping and receiving, and transportation management run smoothly. You will be responsible for optimizing processes, enhancing productivity, and fostering a collaborative team environment. Get ready to make a significant impact in our logistics operations

What you'll do

  • Oversee daily yard operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational procedures
  • Manage inventory control processes to maintain optimal stock levels and accuracy
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving activities, ensuring timely dispatch of goods
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in warehouse distribution and order fulfillment
  • Utilize transportation management systems to plan and execute effective transportation strategies
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to manage purchasing and category management effectively
  • Lead a team of yard staff in materials handling, picking & packing, and dispatching operations
  • Analyze data to drive supply chain analytics and inform decision-making processes
  • 5+ years Metals Recycling Industry Experience
  • Managed Day - to - Day Operations with 10+ employees
  • Responsible for Training and Developing staff
  • Hands - On Management approach
  • Heavy Equipment Operation & Maintenance Performed
  • Maintained Parts Inventory
  • Conducted all Purchasing & Sales for the Yard
  • Inventory Management & Budgetary Control
  • Ensured OSHA & EPA Regulatory Compliance
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish)
  • Basic qualifications
  • Proven experience in warehouse management or logistics operations
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices

Preferred qualifications

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • Experience with freight logistics, 3PL (third-party logistics), and NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) operations
  • Proficient in data analysis skills for effective decision-making
  • Forklift certification is a plus
