We're seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee and manage the daily accounting operations for our dealership. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a proven ability to streamline processes, maintain accurate financial reporting, and ensure compliance with all regulations.

The ideal candidate has hands-on dealership accounting experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys building structure, systems, and teams from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily bank and EFT postings, CIT, and F&I product schedules.
  • Supervise and train accounting staff, ensuring efficient workflow and accuracy across all operations.
  • Maintain and reconcile all schedules, floorplan statements, and parts statements.
  • Ensure timely month-end close—targeting completion within 5 business days.
  • Oversee preparation and accuracy of financial statements, ensuring clarity of gross profit and expense reporting.
  • Implement and monitor policies, procedures, and internal controls for accounting and compliance.
  • Manage deal audits, including monthly FTC and EOM white slip audits, ensuring full compliance with OCCC and other regulatory requirements.
  • HR and Payroll processing.
  • Support external audits and ensure all reconciliations and reports are accurate and ready for review.
  • Lead efforts in organizing and maintaining proper document filing systems and deal archives.
  • Review and post finance reserves, rebates, and manufacturer statements.
  • Assist with insurance and employee benefits reconciliation and compliance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within an automotive dealership environment.
  • Proven success in improving accounting processes, financial accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Experience with month-end closing, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Strong understanding of floorplan accounting, F&I schedules, and manufacturer statements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in dealership management systems (DMS) and Excel.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and accountability.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous roles such as Assistant Controller or Office Manager/Controller at automotive dealerships.
  • Experience managing multiple locations or large accounting teams.
  • Familiarity with compliance audits (FTC, OCCC, etc.).

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $76, $105,809.00 per year
