Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Spanish Lead Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a positive, nurturing, and language-rich learning environment for young children. This role focuses on teaching Spanish through immersive, play-based methods while supporting children's social, emotional, and developmental growth. The teacher will also collaborate with families and staff to build a strong school community rooted in communication, culture, and care.

Duties

  • Set up the classroom daily at 7:00 AM before children arrive.
  • Develop and implement a Spanish immersion curriculum tailored to preschool and early childhood learners.
  • Create engaging lesson plans using interactive activities, games, music, storytelling, and age-appropriate materials.
  • Implement Montessori-inspired practical life activities that help children develop independence, concentration, coordination, and self-care skills.
  • Prepare and maintain a structured, calm, and accessible classroom environment that supports self-directed learning.
  • Encourage children to make choices, solve problems independently, and take responsibility for their learning environment.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages participation, curiosity, and respectful behavior using effective behavior management strategies.
  • Assess student progress regularly and communicate with parents and guardians regarding children's language development and overall growth.
  • Collaborate with other educators to integrate Spanish language instruction across subjects such as early literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
  • Provide additional language support to students who may need extra assistance with Spanish acquisition.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, calm, and organized classroom conducive to learning.
  • Help tidy and reset the classroom after children leave each day.
  • Plan and organize classroom activities where parents are invited to volunteer or participate, fostering family engagement and community involvement.
  • Organize and participate in parent–teacher meetings and staff meetings, contributing ideas, updates, and collaboration.
  • Propose and help plan educational field trip ideas aligned with curriculum goals and early childhood standards.
  • Support school-wide events, cultural celebrations, and community-building activities as needed.
  • Follow all licensing, health, safety, and supervision requirements in compliance with DCYF regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working inMontessori or Montessori-inspired early childhood environments, including practical life activities, independence-based learning, and child-led classroom practices.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children or in early intervention settings.
  • Strong understanding of classroom management and child development principles.
  • Proficiency in Spanish with the ability to teach effectively at various stages of language acquisition.
  • Experience in early childhood curriculum development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both children and adults.
  • A genuine passion for early childhood education, language learning, and cultural appreciation.
