Role Overview

The Azure Data Architect will drive data governance, modernization, and architecture initiatives within the data lakehouse ecosystem. This role collaborates closely with technical leaders, product teams, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions on Azure cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement 
    Data Governance
    , cataloging, and 
    self-service
     capabilities in a Data Lakehouse environment.
  • Influence leaders across development, client operations, and IT infrastructure to plan and prioritize delivery.
  • Partner with project and product teams to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies.
  • Research, architect, and implement solutions using technologies such as:
  • Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Azure SQL, Data Factory
  • Cosmos DB, Azure Key Vault, Entra, Private Endpoints
  • Azure AI Services, OpenAI, Terraform, Azure DevOps
  • Define data-centric solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design strategies and recommend architectural direction.
  • Support system testing including defining acceptance criteria, writing test scripts/scenarios, debugging, and documenting results.
  • Provide ongoing application support, monitoring, troubleshooting, and on-call services as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with established documentation standards and methodologies.
  • Perform additional tasks, project work, and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years
     in data-intensive roles.
  • 5+ years
     designing architectures in 
    DevOps-first
     environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms including:
  • Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB
  • Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, Fabric
  • Data Factory, Azure AI Services, OpenAI
  • Strong DevOps tooling experience including:
  • PowerShell, Terraform, Azure DevOps
  • Containers, Azure Key Vault, Entra, Private Endpoints
  • Deep understanding of relational database architecture.
  • Experience with Windows environments and system administration/internals.
  • Proven analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
  • Track record of delivering complex business projects on time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
