Position OverviewThe Hospital Services Team Leader is responsible for assisting the Director of Manufacturing Systems and Hospital Services and the Supervisor of Hospital Services in overseeing the daily activities of the Hospital Services Department. The Team Leader will provide assistance with staff supervision, meeting hospital demands, customer service, and training. Excellent customer service skills and being a team player are required.Essential FunctionsOrganizational Responsibilities:Understands and supports the quality goals of the companyAdheres to the organization's Quality Plan and Quality Essential Process DescriptionHospital Services Tasks:Aids in training staff in the Hospital Services DepartmentPerforms modification procedures of blood products as needed (irradiation, washing, freezing, etc.)Performs QC/maintenance for all equipment used in the Hospital Services DepartmentEnsures that all orders are filled and delivered in a timely mannerPerforms all procedures for the shipping and receiving of blood componentsAssists in inventory management and stock rotation of blood and blood componentsProvides support to hospital blood banks served by the blood centerDocuments and Record Management:Ensures procedures and forms are uniform and adhere to the organization's document control directivesComplies with the organization's document control directive in terms of uniformity of design and layout; document approval and use; and avoidance of antiquated documentsEnsures records are generated according to instructions in related procedures, and those applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards are met in terms of record review, retention, and storageAdministrative Tasks:Assists with supervising, coaching, and training of assigned staffProvides input regarding staff performance and evaluationsDirects work flow of Hospital Services and ensures communication between shiftsEnsures completion of duties by staff membersAssists in procedure development and implementationAssists in reviewing recordsAssists in maintaining appropriate levels of supplies and materials needed for Hospital ServicesGeneral Work Practices:Practices good customer service relations with co-workers, clients, and the general publicOperates company vehicles in a safe mannerMaintains a clean and orderly work areaProduces accurate, precise, and legible documentationPerforms on-call duties as assignedOther duties as assigned or requiredMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDExperience in Hospital Services, blood bank setting or laboratory settingExperience in a regulated environment (FDA, AABB, CLIA) strongly preferredValid Driver's License with no major infractions and dependable transportationAbility to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to follow SOP in a heavily FDA regulated environmentAbility to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors and co-workersAbility to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlinesAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
