Production Manager – 2nd Shift

Countryside Facility

Position Overview:

The Countryside Production Manager will be responsible for developing a Best in the World team and the execution of business results.  The CS Production Manager will coach and develop the 2nd shift Team Leaders. This position will be involved in the planning of manufacturing objectives and will be responsible for the execution of these and related activities to meet and exceed company and facility goals in four end-states (safety, quality, cost and service).

Responsibilities:

  • Exemplify and advocate the Johnsonville Way everyday
  • Drive and own the safety, quality, and productivity results for 2nd shift
  • Work closely with the Operations Coordinator to develop budget and strategic plans for the area
  • Promote and instill a culture of personal learning and professional development of Team Leaders, and ensure the successful development of all members.
  • Assess trends within results (safety, quality, productivity, etc.) and work with 2nd shift Team Leaders to develop action registers for opportunities
  • Facilitate and drive goal and objective planning.
  • Attend meetings related to safety, quality, productivity, projects, continuous improvement, etc.
  • Attend & Participate in GRILL meetings
  • Lead Lean and Six Sigma Projects as we continue our journey in improving our products and processes.
  • Learn and educate members on the details that drive product cost.
  • In conjunction with Team Leaders, lead hiring teams and processes as it relates to new member hiring and new position hiring
  • Lead efforts to ensure consistency among teams and shifts within the Countryside facility
  • Have dual ownership with 1st and 2nd shift team leaders on performance, review, development, PDC's and disciplinary issues that occur
  • Support and drive GRILL Rooms, Technical Training, etc. that affect the operations area.  Ensure the proper allocation of resources in order to achieve results
  • Spearhead innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the operations area
  • Work with Team Leader(s) on weekly product scheduling for operations

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required for external candidates; experience and business knowledge will be considered for internal candidates, however, must be willing to pursue a Bachelor's Degree

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in manufacturing leadership/supervisory role required
  • Experience in the food industry is preferred, but not required

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication and active listening skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively
  • Skilled in identifying and resolving problems efficiently and with sound judgment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to working with others
  • Track record of mentoring and developing team members to take on greater responsibilities
  • Leads by example and fosters a collaborative decision-making environment
  • Highly organized, with demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Committed to fostering engagement and ownership across teams and stakeholders
  • Experienced in innovating and enhancing existing processes and procedures
  • Proficient in managing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to ensure continuous improvement

Member Status: Full-Time, Salaried

Travel: Not a ton, 5- 10% of your time

Hours: nd Shift; 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM
