Position Summary 

The Food Runner plays a vital role in delivering an elevated dining experience at Palm House. This position is responsible for ensuring the prompt, accurate, and polished delivery of food to guests while upholding the highest standards of service expected in a luxury hotel environment. The Food Runner supports both servers and culinary teams by maintaining strong communication, ensuring correct dish presentation, and providing seamless coordination throughout service. Fine dining experience, attention to detail, and a commitment to exceptional guest service are essential. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Deliver food to guests promptly, ensuring dishes are presented elegantly and accurately according to Palm House fine dining standards. 
  • Assist servers with clearing tables, resetting for upcoming courses, and maintaining a refined dining room atmosphere. 
  • Review and confirm ticket orders before leaving the kitchen to ensure accuracy and completeness. 
  • Communicate effectively with chefs and servers regarding special requests, dietary restrictions, and timing of coursing. 
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and preparation of all service areas, including stations, side work zones, and expediting lines. 
  • Support the Chef and Expo team during service to ensure food quality, plating consistency, and efficient flow. 
  • Handle guest inquiries politely and professionally, always demonstrating Palm House's hospitality standards. 
  • Monitor guest needs throughout service and communicate promptly with servers or managers to enhance the guest experience. 
  • Assist with polishing glassware, flatware, and china to ensure pristine presentation. 
  • Maintain knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, allergens, and daily specials. 
  • Uphold all Palm House safety, sanitation, and hygiene guidelines. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

  • Previous food runner or support role experience in a luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant, or high-volume upscale environment required. 
  • Strong understanding of fine dining etiquette, coursing, and plate presentation. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing elevated guest service. 
  • Ability to memorize table numbers, seating charts, and menu details quickly. 
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Must be guest-focused, polished, and professional in appearance and demeanor. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours). 
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport items up to 30 lbs. 
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and pushing/pulling. 
  • Ability to move quickly and safely through tight spaces and busy dining areas. 
  • Must be able to navigate stairs if required. 
  • Ability to handle heat from the kitchen and work in varying temperature environments.
