Position Summary

The Quality and Training Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the quality and training programs for the Iowa Park plant. This individual is responsible for managing and implementing quality systems and facilitates compliance inspections. They manage QA operations to support manufacturing, testing and releasing raw materials, semi-finished materials and finished product under FDA standards and internal procedures. They responsible for implementing the manufacturing training standards and methodology throughout the site and act as a training champion, driving talent development throughout the organization.

Job Description

Quality and Compliance:

  • Establish, implement, and communicate a strategic site quality vision which aligns the organization to protect the trust of our consumers and brands, and enables Sealed Air to grow in the market.
  • Direct the plant Quality Assurance and Food Safety systems (QMS/HACCP/SQF/HALAL, KOSHER/GMP's) to ensure that WIP and finished goods specifications are met and that product shipped to customers is within specification.
  • Identify corrective actions and process improvements for quality issues through root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality communications, audits, and escalations, Investigating and directing the response to customer and consumer complaints.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to manage supplier quality, including approvals, audits, and incoming material performance.
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in process / product development projects representing quality and food safety assurance and the customer.
  • Develop, implement and document standard operating procedures and conditions for process control, process improvement, testing, inspection and positive release practices.
  • Establish and implement metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system.
  • Analyze customers' product specifications to establish efficient, cost-effective requirements for ease of manufacture and reproducibility and while ensuring customer satisfaction and safety.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and implement improvement plans based on feedback and performance trends.
  • Coordinate the PPM metric for reducing credits as a percentage of sales.
  • Direct the Quality laboratory function to assure that the laboratories facility is using current standardized methods, procedures and practices. Direct all efforts to audit and test the laboratory for accuracy, and compliance with corporate standards.
  • Direct start-up of audits and implementation of established institutional quality and food safety programs to assure the consistent effectiveness of programs.
  • Direct the activity of shift quality auditors while working closely with operations for continuous improvement.

Training and Development:

  • Oversee the implementation of the manufacturing training system and standards.
  • Assess training needs across departments and create training plans.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs and platforms (classroom, e-learning, hands-on) to ensure effectiveness of training.
  • Maintain training records to ensure compliance with regulatory/industry requirements.
  • Improving new hire onboarding and training to accelerate new hire integration and productivity.
  • Partner with managers to support leadership development and coaching.
  • Measure training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics.
  • Stay current on learning and quality trends, tools, and technology.
Qualifications
  • BS in Scientific Discipline; Engineering or Chemistry Preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of increasing responsibility and experience in quality and/or engineering in a global manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred meaningful assignments in manufacturing, engineering, and/or manufacturing quality within companies recognized for achievement of best practices in lean manufacturing/execution.
  • 5+ years of management of people experience.
  • Ability to lead through influence, manage ambiguity, and demonstrate managerial courage to deliver against business objectives.
  • A well-rounded business person with strong organizational savvy, who partners effectively with cross functional stakeholders to earn respect and trust at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and oral.
  • Ability to present on various topics to executive committees when requested and/or discuss detailed issues with plant personnel.
  • A person with a reputation for having driven quality and engineering improvements into a large and complex organization.
  • Experience and ability to coach the broader team to enable effective problem solving, use of broad-based statistical analysis, focused consumer data management, ensuring E2E process control and capability.
  • Strong emphasis on quality tools (such as FMEA, FTA, QFD, SPC, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
