Job Summary: Conducts initial health and medical assessments and/or coordinates medical-related services for agency clients receiving mental health and/or substance use disorder treatment services. Coordinates with other internal and community treatment partners.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None unless agency employs LPNs.

Responsibilities:

  • Address the behavioral and physical health needs of clients receiving treatment for mental health or substance addiction symptoms.
  • Oversee and ensure quality of patient/client medication records as applicable.
  • Conducts health and wellness assessments within required timelines for new patients/clients, and existing clients as directed
  • Coordinates, communicates and collaborates with other treatment team members to provide information about patient medical problems that may impact their treatment plan
  • Provides routine nursing care under the direction of the Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Medical Director/Physician, documents them in the patient record and carries them out accurately and professionally
  • Oversees Infection Control, including new employee and annual training, ordering, tracking and maintenance of personal protective equipment and related supplies
  • Participate in regular department meetings, staff meetings and required trainings.
  • Maintains effective communication with external medical providers that are providing services to agency clients as needed
  • Maintain client confidence and confidentiality per agency policy and federal law in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and US Dept of HHS 42 CFR Part 2 Revised Rule for the treatment of substance use disorders.

· Adhere to agency policies and procedures and the nursing code of ethics and practice within licensed scope of practice.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to handle challenging situations effectively with professionalism

  • Ability to work with children, adolescents, adult and senior clients with mental health and/or substance use addiction challenges
  • Ability to document patient information and data accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
  • Ability to manage time, multi-task and work independently to implement treatment plans.

· Skills in supervising, evaluating, and managing staff of paraprofessionals.

· Familiarity with community support systems, health care and human service resources.

· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.

· Ability to work as part of a comprehensive behavioral health team

· Maintain CPR and First Aid certification and other training requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Hold current and unencumbered RN license in Ohio.
  • Experience in SUD treatment and/or mental health services a plus.

· Must have sensitivity to and competence in cultural differences, and a demonstrated competence in working with persons of color, of various faith, ethnic, nationality and economic backgrounds, adults and seniors, and the LGBTQ+ community.

· Experience in a behavioral health setting supervising LPNs desired.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and periods of alternately sitting, standing and bending while assessing patients.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $ $33.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
