Hybrid Telework Opportunity
The Senior Engineering Geologist reviews engineering geologic, geotechnical and supplemental ground response reports for possible potential geologic and seismic hazards and the mitigation of those hazards for health care facilities. Maintains current certification/registration with appropriate licensing board.
This position is subject to the Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests filing requirements, which requires disclosure of certain personal economic interests as determined by the Conflict of Interest Code of the Department of Health Care Access and Information. Pursuant to Government Code section 81008, Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests is public record and will be made available for public inspection.

Working Conditions
HCAI offers a hybrid telework schedule with a combination of remote and in-office work schedules for CA residents only. The telework policy is subject to change, and additional in-office days may be required and/or minimal notification may be given to report to the worksite if an urgent need arises.
Telework schedules: The expectation is that all staff will work in office 4 days a week July 1, 2026.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Experience with California Building Standards Codes, Title 24 Building Codes and Regulations, and other California business practices, policies and interpretations for health facilities, hospitals.
- Experience with site investigations, soil/rock logging, and advanced in-situ testing methods like Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) and Cone Penetration Tests (CPT).
- Experience with computer software used for designing foundations (shallow and deep), slope stability assessments, excavations, and earth-retaining structures.
- Experience with geotechnical software for perform liquefaction analysis and seismic hazard evaluations, particularly in high-risk regions.
- Experience and understanding of material behavior, including shear strength, consolidation, and permeability.
- Experience in site specific ground motion procedures and site classification for seismic design.
- Experience with geological and hydrogeology studies and investigations.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with preparing and reviewing geotechnical / Geohazard investigative reports.
- Knowledge and experience in soil mechanics, foundation design, earth retaining structures and various materials and methods of construction.
- Knowledge and experience in geotechnical and engineering geological studies and investigations.
- Maintain a current, comprehensive working knowledge of California business practices, codes, regulations, policies, interpretations, materials and methods of construction.
- Demonstrate a commitment to performing duties in a service-oriented manner.
- Communicate well with others and handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to apply technical skills to design and formulate practical solutions in resolving geotechnical and geohazard issues, technical evaluation of construction documents.
- Experience working and resolving issues with architects, engineers, health care facility owners, contractors and other technical and professional staff.
- Good writing and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
