Electrical Apprentice

At BLCCS, our Electrical Apprentices support the installation, modification, and repair of electrical systems across a wide range of commercial and industrial projects. This role works closely with licensed electricians to help deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient electrical construction services.
Key Responsibilities
As an Electrical Apprentice at BLCCS, you will work under the guidance of experienced electricians and contribute to daily project operations. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with material handling, jobsite organization, and tool setup
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment
- Demonstrating consistent safe work practices and proper use of tools and equipment
Project tasks may include:
- Bending and installing conduit
- Setting electrical equipment such as panels, starters, and switchgear
- Pulling, routing, and terminating conductors
- Installing lighting fixtures and lighting control systems
- Installing a variety of electrical devices
- Troubleshooting electrical systems with supervision
- Understanding and following all BLCCS safety policies, procedures, and MSDS guidelines
Position Requirements
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather
- Ability to use standard jobsite sanitary facilities
- Must provide and maintain a basic hand-tool set (approx. 30 lbs. when worn)
- Comfortable working from ladders of various types and heights, and able to move a 12' ladder independently
- Must meet ladder safety weight requirements (including personal tools)
- Capable of working at heights up to 90 ft. using ladders, lifts, scaffolding, or other safe access methods
- Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces (manholes, attics, tunnels, equipment rooms, etc.)
- Must wear required PPE such as hard hats and safety glasses; respirator use may be required on some tasks
- Frequent use of hands, fingers, and upper body
- Willingness to work a standard 40-hour week, with overtime or night shifts as needed
- Must obtain and maintain a State of Texas Electrical Apprentice License

Responsibilities
Assist senior electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems on construction sites and industrial facilities. Help interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand project requirements and ensure accurate implementation. Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to perform wiring, conduit bending, and fixture installation tasks. Support the setup of low voltage and high voltage electrical systems in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Conduct basic inspections using tools such as ohmmeters to test continuity and troubleshoot electrical issues. Participate in reading schematics and wiring diagrams to assist with complex electrical layouts. Assist with framing carpentry tasks related to electrical installations where necessary. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Learn proper use of construction equipment and safety gear to minimize hazards on-site. Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
Experience
No prior professional experience required; however, familiarity with construction site environments is advantageous. A strong interest in electrical work and a willingness to learn technical skills related to industrial and commercial electrical systems. Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical testing equipment such as ohmmeters is beneficial. Knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and wiring diagrams will help accelerate your learning curve. Experience working on construction sites or in similar physical environments is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive attitude towards safety procedures and teamwork.
