Position Summary:

As a member of the hospital staff, your #1 priority is patient care. This means ensuring our patients are clean and comfortable at all times. You are responsible for keeping all areas of the hospital clean and presentable.

Reports to: Veterinary Assistant Supervisor

Minimum Education: High School Diploma

Experience: 6 months working in a similar job function

Rate of Compensation: Dependent on experience

Essential Position Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Compassionately, calmly, and gently approaches and handles patients
  • Willing to learn and provide safe restraint practices with canines and felines for examinations, radiographs, ultrasounds and blood draws
  • Willing to learn commonly used basic veterinary medical terminology and abbreviations.
  • Identifies soiled or vacant cages and cleans using appropriate cleaning techniques and chemicals. Uses PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and follows other required protocols when cleaning infectious patient cages and isolation room.
  • Prepares cleaning agent solutions. Sweeps, mops and dries hospital floors as needed.
  • Clean exam rooms after patients and keep ready for next patient.
  • Stocks medical and maintenance supplies throughout the hospital according to checklists.
  • Willing to learn vaccine protocols for felines and canines
  • Willing to learn how to do toenail trims and give subcutaneous injections
  • Documents patient attitude and recognizes abnormal behavior
  • Prepares supplies for blood draw, vaccination and IVC placement.
  • Processes deceased patients for both communal and private cremation. Able to accurately and promptly complete associated paperwork.
  • Understands room flow and can quickly and efficiently start a room for the doctor.
  • Prepares exam rooms for clients anticipating the doctor's needs. Obtaining samples from pets before doctor enters.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Dependent on experience

Schedule: Our supervisors like to keep staff on a set schedule with their day off and maintain shift hours for consistency for the staff.
