General Description:

The Barstow School is a co-educational school where students in preschool through twelfth grade develop in a challenging educational community. As originally stated by Mary Louise Barstow, the objective of the school remains "to promote sound scholarship and to give symmetrical development to mind, body and character." The Barstow school seeks a skilled, creative, and collaborative educator to join our Fine Arts Faculty. This position will focus on instruction in drawing, painting, and Art Fundamentals for students in grades 6-12.

Essential Job Functions:

• Evidence of knowledge and experience in art education for adolescents
• Demonstrated technical skill in 2-D art, painting, and drawing
• Experience teaching middle and high school students
• Demonstrated understanding of current teaching pedagogies and adolescent development
• Exercises flexibility in both implementing best learning practices and pursuing success for each student
• Enjoy collaborating with colleagues within and across subject areas
• Willingness to invest in the community and participate in the lives of our students outside of the classroom
• Be self-reflective, able to work independently, and committed to professional growth

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor required, Master preferred.
