SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for nursing care delivery for assigned client locations.
Timely and accurately assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients.
Administer prescribed medication, treatments, and other tasks, as ordered by the practitioner.
Provide emergency first aid care when appropriate.
Check and record vital signs, peak flows, blood glucose checks, weight, and other diagnostic tests on-site, when appropriate.
Triage officer intake screenings for necessity and priority at sick call.
Record information in chronic clinic and report reactions to treatments and medications, as well as changes in the patients' emotional or physical condition.
Record care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
Coordinate medical services as directed by the practitioner and provide patient education to support care.
Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control precautions, as required.
Maintain and demonstrate working knowledge of pharmacology, including drug reaction/overdose.
Maintain and demonstrate working knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition.
Notify supervisor of medical or security incidents.
Attend in-service education sessions as requested by the client.
Perform duties within the scope of practice mandated by state and local standards.
Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA practices as required by government agencies.
Acquire professional licensure as directed.
May be asked to train new hires and coworkers.
Proficient in using and maintaining patient electronic healthcare records and learning AIMM electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Acquire and maintain professional nursing licensure.
Remain available for staffing coverage needs including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
TRAINING EXPECTATIONS:
Associates in this role are expected, as a condition of employment, to complete all training assigned within a reasonable time, generally within less than 15 days. This role includes the following training requirements:
Obtain and maintain NCCHC CCHP certification.
Must maintain CPR/BLS certification.
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (emotional quotient; EQ):
To be successful in the organization, associates should have a high EQ. This is necessary to communicate productively, to build and maintain relationships, to recognize and reduce stress, to defuse conflict situations and to increase job satisfaction.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This is not a supervisory position. This position does not have the authority to hire, fire, discipline, discharge, assign overtime, and/or direct and assign work, or the ability to effectively recommend any of these actions. This role also serves as a coach and mentor for other employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role operates in a correctional facility or similar setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Incumbents will be exposed to viruses, disease, and infection from patients and specimens in the working environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the ability to push, pull, and move medication carts of approximately 50 pounds on wheels. Required physical activity includes standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, lifting, and supporting patients.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary. Weekend, evening, night, and holiday work may be required.
TRAVEL:
This position requires travel.
QualificationsREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Registered Nursing License and associate's degree required.
Must be licensed and/or willing to obtain licensure in the state(s) where practice occurs.
1+ year(s) of nursing experience required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training required.
Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
