Fort Benton, Montana is home to IND HEMP's two processing facilities: one dedicated to the processing of hemp oilseed and the other focused on industrial hemp fiber products. Each operation is purpose-build to provide industrial hemp food, feed and fiber products across a variety of applications and industries while providing our farmers with multiple revenue stream and contract production opportunities.

Shift: This is a 4 day/week - 10 hour/day shift schedule with Friday, Saturday, Sunday and overtime work as required.

Pay: This is an hourly level position with a starting rate of $21.00 per hour.

Position Description: The Operator position will report to the Plant Supervisor or Operations Director and will perform duties both inside and outside of an industrial hemp processing facility. The Operator is responsible for setup/startup of work areas and equipment, operating equipment, monitoring equipment, processes and product quality, troubleshooting, minor repairs, documenting/daily reports, and reporting issues relating to the facility, plant equipment or products. The operator will also adjust equipment to ensure equipment is operating at maximum efficiency, keeping safety and product quality priority.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and maintain safe working practices and a safe working environment
  • Follow necessary GMP And SOP policies
  • Cleaning facilities, equipment, and machinery in strict adherence to GMP and SQF food manufacturing policies
  • Maintain work areas, isles, and grounds in a clean and tidy manner
  • Troubleshooting and fixing machinery as needed
  • Maintain and monitor equipment to ensure proper functionality and efficient operation
  • Conduct quality checks
  • Collect product samples
  • Loading and unloading materials
  • Packaging finished goods and products
  • Working safely at heights of up to 40ft
  • Safely operate heavy / aerial equipment such as: forklift, track loader, scissor and articulating boom lifts
  • General knowledge and understanding of 120V or 480V electrical, confined space, and OSHA safety regulations
  • Knowledge ability to operate all processing and mobile equipment within or outside of the facilities
  • Act as lead when needed
  • Assist senior staff in on-the-job training with laborer and technician level employees

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, additional education or training a plus
  • 2+ years industry or equivalent training preferred
  • Prior experience operating heavy equipment and forklifts a plus
  • LOTO and OSHA training a plus
  • Basic understanding of HMI's, computers and math comprehension
  • Prior manufacturing (grain or food processing) or agriculture experience a plus
  • Ability to exhibit good work habits, including attendance and punctuality
  • Must have the ability to climb stairs, lift, bend, kneel and stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, work at heights, dusty environments, and hot and cold temperatures
  • Ability to lift 50+ LBS repetitively throughout the day
