Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish.
  • Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, marinating, and portioning ingredients to streamline kitchen operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
  • Handle food with care, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients to minimize waste and maximize freshness.
  • Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and seasonal specials that enhance the dining experience.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal service efficiently during busy periods while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to knife skills, cooking techniques, and equipment operation to prevent accidents.
  • Assist in catering events or special functions as needed, ensuring timely preparation and presentation of dishes.
  • Serve dishes promptly and professionally when required, providing excellent food service that exceeds guest expectations.
  • Participate in ongoing training related to food handling, dietary department practices, and culinary innovations to continually improve skills.

Skills

  • Proven experience in a restaurant or culinary setting with a strong foundation in food preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Knowledge of dietary department standards and dietary aide experience is a plus for accommodating special dietary needs.
  • Demonstrated ability in menu planning and meal preparation with an eye for detail and presentation.
  • Fine dining experience highly desirable; familiarity with upscale service standards is a plus.
  • Excellent knife skills combined with proficiency in various cooking methods such as grilling, sautéing, roasting, and baking.
  • Solid understanding of food safety protocols including proper handling, storage, sanitation practices, and HACCP principles.
  • Experience in catering or large-scale food service environments that require efficient coordination under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills for working effectively within a team environment while providing exceptional customer service when serving guests.
