Veterinary Assistant

Pet's Friend Animal Clinic is a 7-doctor practice with a busy, fast-paced environment, and we're seeking a skilled Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for mid-level and experienced professionals who thrive in a high-energy hospital and are confident supporting doctors in surgery, urgent care, and advanced patient care.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide skilled assistance during surgical procedures, urgent care cases, and advanced diagnostics.
- Perform and/or assist with tasks such as anesthetic monitoring, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, medication administration, and wound care.
- Safely handle and restrain patients, including those in urgent or high-stress situations.
- Support veterinarians in triaging and stabilizing patients during emergencies.
- Collect, prepare, and process laboratory samples.
- Maintain sterile and organized treatment and surgical areas.
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding patient status, treatment plans, and post-care instructions.
- Contribute to training and mentoring less experienced staff when needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of veterinary hospital experience required.
- RVT license (or in progress) strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in anesthetic monitoring, surgery prep, catheterization, and emergency/urgent care support required.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, multi-doctor environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Passion for high-quality medicine and compassionate patient care.
