The Buyer I is directly responsible for ensuring raw materials and services are provided from WGO suppliers in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet our production commitments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Reviews MRP requirements against buy reports and open purchase orders to determine required material, equipment, and supplies.
  • Resolve supplier payment issues in coordination with sourcing, accounts payable, warehouse and any other stakeholders.
  • Executes purchase orders and drives vendors to fulfill to the WGO schedule while minimizing risk.
  • Proactively manages the communication of all responsible purchasing commitments to the stakeholders within the organization.
  • Identifies and escalates conflicts with respect to material availability and order-promising integrity. Communicates to leadership when demand cannot be met and participates in resolutions with the stakeholders.
  • Administrates the entry of purchased item supplier master attributes, such as lead times, lot sizes, prices, etc. in coordination with sourcing to ensure accurate data integrity
  • Responsible for maintaining targeted inventories and providing input to management regarding potential inventory risk.
  • Maintains the daily/weekly/monthly communications with suppliers to ensure a stable and equitable partnership.
  • Provides metric-based performance data to Strategic Sourcing Managers on vendor performance and participates in vendor reviews

ASSIST or LEAD THE FOLLOWING:

  • Reporting purchasing and supplier data to internal strategic partners (Sourcing, Quality, Engineering, etc.) to assist in improvement opportunities.
  • Participating in special projects as needed.

TALENTS and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations, order scheduling and purchasing procedures, MRP systems and their processes, and supply chain best practices.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good MS Office/365 skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint/Teams).
  • Two or more years of supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS

  • Degree in business, management, or supply chain required. Equivalent experience and a combination of acceptable education/certifications may be accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Purchasing or supply chain certification desired (APICS, ISM, etc)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is normally performed in both a typical interior/office and production floor work environment. The candidate should be able to perform the job tasks with or without reasonable accommodations
