The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people…a Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive.Much has changed since that time.  Today the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation, owns and operates a Casino and a Golf Resort, and owns a number of other business ventures in the San Diego Region.    One attribute that remains unchanged, however, is Sycuan's sense of community.  Sycuan is more than just a business.  Sycuan is a community of people working together toward a common goal.  Whether you work in our state-of-the-art  Casino, our beautiful Resort, or become a staff member in our Tribal Government division, you will be part of the Sycuan family.Job Purpose:Prepares alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, serves food for guest consumption, and operates cash registerJob Duties and Responsibilities:(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)Provides guests with bar service by reviewing banquet event order, ensuring and verifying bar and beverage set up is set as requested, greeting guests in a friendly and courteous manner, mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests, preparing beverages according to standard recipes, cleaning, chopping and slicing garnish as appropriate, opening bottles and pouring alcohol, serving wine and draft or bottled beer, receiving and delivering food orders when appropriate, informing banquet captain and kitchen staff of meal and bar adjustments and/or timing of delivery, and refilling and/or removing glassware as appropriate.Maintains a safe, sanitary, and presentable work area by securing beverage cabinets and taps, checking beverage products for appropriate temperature and freshness, replenishing as necessary, following correct beverage cooling and storage procedures, cleaning bar and counters, and arranging bottles and glasses following established procedures.Provides accounting of transactions during shift by charging for the correct amount of alcohol poured, entering cash transactions in to point-of-sale system, counting currency, logging guest comps, points and credit cards on to cashier drop work sheet, balancing money drawer against generated cashier report following established procedures, and reporting discrepancies to the supervisor or food services management team.Ensures responsible alcohol beverage service policies are followed by asking for proper identification from guests who appear to be under the age of 30, monitoring alcohol consumption, ensuring guests do not become intoxicated following established procedures, stopping alcohol service at the designated time, and clearing the room of all alcohol containers, glasses and bottles for each venue at the time specified.Job Specifications:Education and Experience:Essential:County of San Diego ServSafe Food Handler CardCA ABC Responsible Beverage Service Certification21 years of age1 year bartending experience6 months guest service experience6 months food service experienceGeneral wine knowledgeMenu knowledge of both food and drinksDesirable:High School Diploma, High School Certificate of Completion, or G.E.DSkills and Knowledge:Essential:Working knowledge of responsible alcohol beverage serviceWorking knowledge of liquor license guidelinesAbility to mix a wide variety of alcoholic beveragesAbility to prepare beverage mixtures from recipesAbility to assess guest sobriety and stop alcohol service when appropriateAbility to count cash and make change in a fast-paced environmentAbility to recognize counterfeit moniesAbility to perform simple mathematical calculationsAbility to appear for work on timeAbility to interact effectively with a diverse guest and team member baseAbility to communicate effectively in the English languageAbility to maintain professionalism and composureAbility to understand and follow verbal directives and written directionsAbility to accept constructive criticismAbility to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to carry large serving tray and tray jacksAbility to stand for up to eight hours at a timeAbility to bend and stoopAbility to work in a smoking environmentCash handling experienceCocktail serving experienceFine dining server experienceDesirable:Multi-lingualSupervisory/Managerial Accountability:Direct: NoneIndirect: NoneIf you enjoy being part of a community dedicated to creating a memorable guest experience, we invite you to explore career opportunities with Sycuan and join our winning team
