Job Overview

Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, the CNC operator will be responsible for Operating, Maintaining and programming our CNC router in a fast paced scenic shop environment. CNC Operator will manage communications with and file workflow from draftsperson to ensure timely and accurate execution of all CNC cut files. CNC Operator will maintain ideal Machining parameters through machine maintenance and safe operations. Machinist will maintain Clear Communication with Fabrication Manager for inventory optimization and table time management. A keen eye for Detail and Strict adherence to Precision oriented mechanical processes are essential traits of the ideal operator.

Duties

  • Program and run CNC programs on a Laguna Smartshop II machine
  • Program and nest in V-Carve Pro
  • Maintaining tool crib inventory and equipment maintenance schedules
  • Lifting large format sheet and laminate materials up to 5' X 10'
  • Ensure production quality standards are safely and efficiently met to fulfill project requirements and deadlines in a cost effective manner
  • Maintaining CNC area cleanliness and project specific organization
  • Organizing and managing workflow according to project deadlines.
  • Willingness to work overtime, nights and weekends to ensure all jobs are completed within designated timelines
  • Calibrate and setup CNC machine for safe and optimal operation
  • Supervise machine throughout full duration of run cycles
  • Inspect completed parts to ensure accuracy of machining to blueprint specifications
  • Ensuring proper safety practices are followed, personal protective equipment is worn at all times, and that a safe and efficient work space is maintained

Requirements

  • Have 4+ years experience as a CNC Machinist
  • Have extensive experience using V-Carve & AutoCAD
  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or CNC Lead with extensive knowledge of CNC programming, machining techniques, and blueprint reading.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, orthographic and technical drawings
  • Skill in operating precision measuring devices to ensure accuracy of machine
  • Have Mechanical aptitude and extensive mathematical and g-code knowledge
  • Have strong computer skills and good common sense
  • Experience with Laguna Tools a plus
  • Scenic or theatre background a PLUS

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $38.00 per hour
