Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and small animal veterinary practices, demonstrating a commitment to providing high-quality support in the clinical environment. This role involves working closely with veterinarians and other staff to ensure the health and well-being of our animal patients.

Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.
  • Perform laboratory tests and analyze samples to aid in diagnosis.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed.
  • Provide critical care for animals in need of immediate attention.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures and while handling specimens.
  • Monitor animal vital signs and behavior post-surgery or treatment.
  • Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
  • Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations or procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices.
  • Familiarity with dental equipment related to animal care.
  • Experience with laboratory procedures and anesthesia is advantageous.
  • Understanding of veterinary critical care protocols is desirable.
  • Proficiency in dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and catheterization skills.
  • Skills in pet grooming and dog training are considered assets.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
  • A commitment to providing compassionate care for animals in our community.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Internship
