Reports To: Corporate Safety Manager

About the Role:

Harper Brothers Construction is seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator to support our underground utilities, heavy highway, civil, and bridge structure operations. This role focuses on maintaining compliance, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring safe work practices across all projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections and ensure compliance with company, OSHA, and client safety standards.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Deliver new hire safety orientations and assist with ongoing employee safety training.
  • Monitor and maintain safety documentation (e.g., JHAs, permits, SiteDocs, toolbox talks).
  • Participate in project startup meetings and collaborate with field leadership to plan safe operations.
  • Promote proactive safety engagement and reinforce the company's commitment to "Zero Harm."

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in construction safety (underground utilities, civil, or bridge projects preferred).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction Standards.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification required (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; able to influence safe behaviors in the field.
  • Proficiency with safety management software (SiteDocs, RMC, etc.).
  • Valid driver's license; travel between project sites required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • CHST, CSP, or other safety certification (preferred).
  • Experience with excavation, trenching, confined space, and fall protection.
