Wine DirectorBoca Restaurant – Cincinnati, Ohio

"Where refinement meets reverence — and every bottle tells a story."

About Boca

Boca stands among the Midwest's most distinguished dining destinations — an elegant expression of European tradition interpreted through a contemporary American lens. Guided by Chef David Falk, Boca is defined by its devotion to craftsmanship, hospitality, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Central to that vision is Boca's extraordinary wine program, a high value collection that is celebrated for its depth, integrity, and focus on the classic terroirs of the Old World. The cellar represents decades of thoughtful acquisition — a living archive of Burgundy, Bordeaux, Champagne, Piedmont, Tuscany, and beyond.

The Opportunity

Boca seeks a Wine Director to steward this world-class collection and continue its evolution. The ideal candidate will be a consummate professional: one who marries deep technical knowledge with artistic sensitivity, and who approaches hospitality with both intellect and grace.

This is an opportunity to lead one of the Midwest's most respected wine programs, working alongside a team committed to excellence in every detail.

Responsibilities

  • Curate and evolve a dynamic wine list that honors Boca's Old World focus while embracing balance, depth, and discovery.
  • Source rare and exceptional wines through relationships with wine makers, importers, distributors, and private collectors.
  • Oversee all aspects of cellar management, including purchasing, inventory, vertical curation, vintage priority, and cost controls, maintaining the integrity of a $1.3M collection.
  • Lead service on the dining room floor, ensuring wine presentation and pairings are executed with precision and warmth.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to design thoughtful wine pairings that enhance the seasonal tasting menus.
  • Mentor and educate the sommelier and front-of-house teams, cultivating an atmosphere of continual learning and respect for the craft.
  • Represent Boca at industry events, tastings, and partnerships, serving as an ambassador for the restaurant's beverage philosophy.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 5 years of experience directing or leading a fine-dining wine program of comparable caliber.
  • Profound knowledge of classic European regions and producers; curiosity and openness toward benchmark New World wines.
  • Certification as an Advanced Sommelier (CMS), WSET Diploma, or equivalent credential preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership abilities, with acute attention to detail and presentation.
  • A poised and genuine presence on the dining room floor — able to connect with guests, colleagues, and purveyors with humility and passion.

  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Dining privileges within Boca Restaurant Group
  • Support for continuing education and professional development
