Earthwork & Underground Utilities Estimator

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking an Earthwork & Underground Utilities Estimator in St. Joseph, MO to join our team. This role is crucial in preparing accurate cost estimates, scopes, and proposals for public and private infrastructure projects, supporting our pursuit of competitive bids and negotiated work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work in a team environment and with other estimators.
• Participate in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and site visits to gather real-world insights.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop accurate and competitive estimates for earthwork and underground utility components.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork (cut/fill, over-excavation, import/export, mass haul diagrams, dewatering, etc.) and underground utility systems (storm, sewer, water, ductbanks, etc.).
• Use Agtek software for modeling surfaces and computing quantities.
• Develop cost breakdowns and pricing model using historical data, supplier quotes, and production rates.
• Support value engineering efforts and constructability reviews.
• Estimating close-out.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
• Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Four-Year degree in construction related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3-5 years of estimating experience in earthwork and underground utilities or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Agtek software preferred.
• Experience with Bluebeam and HCSS Heavybid is a plus.
• Detail orientated and strong organizational skills.
• Must be detail orientated and have strong organizational skills.
• Must work well in team environment.
• Approximately 30% travel required.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
• Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
• Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
