Shift: 7am – 3pm, Monday through Friday
Status: Part-time (Non-Exempt)
Reports To: Program Director
Position Summary
The Day Room Coordinator is responsible for managing and monitoring the operations and activities of the Phoenix Community Center to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations. The Day Room Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safety of participants, as well as the security and sanitation of the program. The Day Room Coordinator will provide direct program support for the participants by assisting with information/resource sharing and supporting the work of internal and external program partners.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure a safe, secure, and efficient facility.

Ensure participants are in compliance with agency policies and rules.

Monitor participant areas; ensure you are visible and continuously interacting with program participants.

Check for contraband (i.e., illicit drugs, alcohol, weapons, etc.) in the facility through general observation and searches per the search, contraband, and weapons protocols.

Supervise program activities, including internal and external partner programming for participants.

Attend team meetings and trainings as directed.

Maintain visitor protocol and follow daily log procedures.

Follow appropriate critical incident protocols, including providing adequate accompanying documentation.

Maintain a comprehensive and accurate written record of events that occur during shifts, as well as thorough incident reports if needed.

Maintain participant meal sheets and sign-in/out logs, as well as all other logbooks and records.

Conduct periodic inspections of the facility and grounds through rounds to ensure the security of the facility.

Conduct periodic fire drills and perform other safety duties as directed or required to ensure the safety of participants, including implementing emergency evacuation protocols.

Answer telephones and route calls or messages to appropriate team members.

Receive, account for, and secure all donations received during the shift, as well as provide donation receipts to donors upon request.

Must be trained on entering notes and incident reports into the City of Philadelphia HMIS system.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
-
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent with a combination of acceptable training and experience in human services, including but not limited to homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health.

Must be able to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, and lift supplies.

Must be able to visually observe, hear, understand, and interpret participant behavior.

Must be able to provide constructive feedback to the shift leader or designee to improve services.

A criminal background clearance will be required.

Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, task-driven, and able to work independently and set daily priorities.

Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

Must be flexible and willing to assist in cases of urgency and/or emergencies.

Must have a valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record.
