Switchgear Specialist

Position Summary

We are seeking a Switchgear Specialist to join our growing team. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical switchgear and related power distribution projects. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in switchgear systems, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex electrical drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze project specifications, drawings, and technical documents to prepare detailed switchgear estimates.
• Develop material and labor cost breakdowns for medium and low-voltage switchgear, panelboards, and power distribution equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to ensure accurate pricing and scope alignment.
• Prepare RFQs and solicit vendor and subcontractor quotations for equipment and services.
• Evaluate supplier proposals and perform cost comparisons.
• Identify risks, value-engineering opportunities, and scope gaps during the estimating process.

• Maintain strong, professional communication with new and existing customers.

• Maintain an up-to-date database of materials, labor, and vendor pricing.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably focused on switchgear or power distribution systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, one-line diagrams, and NEC standards.
• Familiarity with major switchgear manufacturers and their software programs (e.g., Eaton, ABB).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70, $90,000.00 per year
