Job Overview

As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare of animals by providing support to veterinarians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. You will be responsible for ensuring the well-being of pets while assisting in medical procedures and performing routine care tasks. This position requires a compassionate individual with a strong understanding of animal care and veterinary practices.

Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
  • Monitor animal vital signs and behavior during procedures and recovery
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient
  • Provide education to pet owners regarding animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures
  • Perform animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during examinations and treatments
  • Assist with dental cleanings and other dental procedures as needed
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic environment, including equipment sterilization

Skills

  • Proficient in veterinary terminology to effectively communicate with the veterinary team
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry practices to provide optimal care for various species
  • Experience with animal physiology to understand health conditions and treatments
  • Ability to perform animal catheterization for diagnostic purposes or treatment administration
  • Familiarity with pet grooming techniques to assist in maintaining overall hygiene
  • Strong skills in animal restraint to ensure safety for both staff and animals during procedures
  • Understanding of dental terminology related to veterinary dentistry practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and team members
  • Compassionate approach towards animal care, demonstrating empathy for both pets and their owners

Expectations:


This candidate will be available for a primarily Thursday-Saturday shift with the option to pick up additional days throughout the week as prn.

This candidate will be working in appointment settings, surgical suite, and client communication environments. Bilingual Spanish is a benefit.


Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
