Job Summary

The Senior Labor Relations Officer is responsible for developing and executing strategies, processes, and best practices that align labor relations with Agile Dream Team's organizational objectives. This role serves as a trusted legal and strategic advisor, leading complex labor negotiations, managing grievance processes, and ensuring fair and consistent application of labor agreements. The position also provides guidance to management on employment law, compliance, and collective bargaining strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement labor relations strategies and policies aligned with organizational goals and applicable labor laws.
  • Serve as a member of key internal committees, including Reduction in Force (RIF), ADA Accommodation, Religious Accommodation, and Joint Labor/Management Committees.
  • Lead or participate in complex labor negotiations with unions and employee representative organizations.
  • Prepare, review, and evaluate management proposals in advance of negotiations.
  • Advise leadership on grievance handling, arbitration preparation, and contract administration.
  • Support the development of the organization's labor relations strategy and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws.
  • Represent the organization in hearings, mediations, or administrative proceedings as required.
  • Build collaborative relationships with union representatives and management to promote constructive labor relations.

Requirements

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licenses: Must hold an active license to practice law in Washington D.C.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in labor relations, including grievance handling, arbitration (preparation and presentation), collective bargaining, and negotiation.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth understanding of employment law, collective bargaining agreements, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Residency: Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Washington D.C. (on-site position).
  • Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills; proven ability to handle complex labor matters with discretion and fairness.
