Handyman/Porter

Title:Handyman/Porter– Brooklyn-Based – Full-Time

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Compensation: $45,000 - $70,000 (Based on Experience)

Description: We are seeking a Handyman/Porter to join our team and support the management of 20-30 small residential properties in Brooklyn, NY. This is a full-time position requiring on-call 24/7 availability, ensuring our tenants' needs are met promptly and professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks (plumbing, electrical, painting, basic carpentry, HVAC troubleshooting, etc.).
• Take trash and recycling bins to the curb in accordance with NYC Department of Sanitation pickup schedules on respective days of the week.
• Keeps building grounds and common areas clean and in safe condition
• Responds to emergency calls, after hours/weekend/holidays.
• Repair/replace/install appliances.
• Respond promptly to tenant work orders and emergencies.
• Maintains fresh paint on interior and exterior of the building
• Conduct property inspections to identify and address maintenance needs.
• Use a smartphone or computer to input, update, and manage work orders.
• Communicate effectively with tenants and vendors to provide updates and coordinate access for repairs.

Requirements:

• Must live in Brooklyn, NY or within close proximity to Bushwick and/or Bed-Stuy.
• Must have a reliable car and valid driver's license.
• At least 3 years off hands-on maintenance experience
• Must be reliable and have the ability to be on-call 24/7 for emergencies.
• Manage time effectively, multi-task & prioritize in order to meet established goals & deadlines
• Has knowledge of building codes and safety standards as set forth by the city, state, and federal governments
• Has working knowledge of HVAC systems (preferred)
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Familiarity with smartphones and basic computer skills for managing work orders and tenant information.
• Previous experience in property maintenance or a related field is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
