This full-time permanent position offers a hybridized work schedule. The individual hired will be headquartered at and required to work from the Hill Farms State Office Building on the near west side of Madison at least 2 days per week. Position SummaryThe Facilities Management Officer's duties include department-wide oversight, management and coordination of all WisDOT facilities (non-right-of-way) including owned and leased locations. This includes State Patrol Posts, DMVs, regional offices, and other administrative facilities across the state. You will supervise both the staff that manage these facilities and the staff responsible for the agency's records retention and forms management programs.
As the Facilities Management Officer, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of the agency's biennial capital budget and frequently interact with internal and external business partners on complex and highly visible projects.
As a supervisor in this position, you will oversee a team of 14 professionals with diverse program specialties and varied responsibilities. You will lead and direct staff and assign work consistent with established goals. You will monitor performance and conduct performance evaluations with staff, recruit and develop employees, and perform additional personnel management tasks.
Salary InformationThis position is in schedule-range with an annual salary of $70,720 - $87,360 (or $34 - $42 per hour), plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Job DetailsOccasional statewide travel is required for this position for meetings, site inspections, and staff supervision. Travel can be expected an average of one or two days a month, with infrequent overnight stays. Therefore, a valid driver's license and ability to drive a state-owned vehicle is required or you must provide your own transportation in order to work from WisDOT facilities throughout the State.
In addition, the ability to walk over uneven surfaces and climb ladders is required for site inspections and project oversight.

QualificationsMinimally qualified candidates must detail having experience in all of the following:
- Supervising or serving as a Team/Project Lead in a facilities development or building operations related program.
- Conducting facility site inspections and coordinating with contracted service providers or staff to complete maintenance activities.
- Administering oversight of facility-related capital projects (e.g., major renovations or infrastructure upgrades).
- Working with building systems (such as HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing).
In addition to minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will also detail having demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Coordinating leasing activities and/or landlord-tenant relations.
