Palm Beach County's Human Resources Department seeks an experienced employee relations professional to assist on a part-time basis with investigating sensitive and detailed personnel matters requiring critical analysis and expeditious handling.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compiles data and assists the Director, Employee Relations and Fair Employment Programs, in researching and responding to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)/Florida Commission on Human Relations (FCHR) on discrimination charges; may assist in the collection and analysis of data on court cases.
  • Conducts alternative dispute resolution between aggrieved parties.
  • Interviews complainants and witnesses; conducts on-site visits to examine records and documents.
  • Consults with departments/division directors, managers, and supervisors concerning potential EEO violations and recommended remedial actions.
  • Drafts written memoranda detailing investigative findings and recommendations.
  • Interprets and investigates alleged violations of the Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Florida Civil Rights laws, and all other EEO statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Provides guidance to departments/division directors, managers, and supervisors on preventing EEO-related complaints.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Public/Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Law, or a related field; minimum of three (3) years of professional human resources experience.

Additional years of experience can substitute for years of education on a one-to-one basis – e.g., a related Associate's Degree and five (5) years of experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience conducting workplace employment investigations is strongly preferred.
