Pre-Program Design Release Engineer

The Pre-Program Design Release Engineer is responsible for synthesizing program requirements with styling themes and ensuring robust design feasibility prior to program launch. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and design studios to balance quality, cost, timing, and performance objectives throughout the early design phase.
Responsibilities:
- Integrate program requirements — including financial targets, weight, complexity, and CNZ — with theme styling.
- Evaluate advanced themes against program assumptions and escalate incompatibilities as needed.
- Support In/Out/Explo decision-making by developing and assessing concept designs using standard decision matrices focused on quality, cost, timing, and performance.
- Define Part of Responsibility (POR) part breakdown and assembly sequences.
- Develop source packages including PBOM, eBOM, Source Packages, Technical Sheets, and related documentation.
- Provide feasibility criteria to the Product Design Office to ensure a robust Style Freeze Release.
- Oversee the creation of master sections and manage the development of initial 3D CAD and CAD0 releases.
- Lead design practice analyses and ensure timely resolution of red items.
- Support technical reviews and participate in supplier rating activities.
- Track and resolve issues through effective logbook management.
- Present top program issues and progress updates weekly to management.
- Manage supplier co-location activities and evaluate supplier deliverables and performance.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in Automotive Product Development
- Expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
- Proficiency with CAD software (CATIA V5, NX, or equivalent)
- Experience in Bill of Materials (PBOM/eBOM) management
- Skilled in technical documentation and specification writing
- Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication
- Experience in supplier management and evaluation
- Strong problem-solving and issue resolution capabilities
- Ability to conduct feasibility analyses and make data-driven recommendations
- Excellent project planning and execution skills
- Strong presentation and stakeholder communication abilities
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80, $85,000.00 per year
