Position Summary
We are seeking a commercially minded, client facing investment professional to lead our Systematic Equity Client Portfolio Management (CPM) team in the US. Systematic Equity at State Street Investment Management spans the full spectrum of equity strategies, including index, smart beta, and active quantitative approaches. The CPM team includes investment professionals and subject matter experts who collaborate with Portfolio Management, Research and Sales to clearly articulate, support and grow our business.
This role will be based in Boston, MA. Client Portfolio Managers are forward-thinking, meticulous and knowledgeable individuals who are passionate about investment management and thrive in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Successful CPMs are commercially driven and possess high-end interpersonal skills, executive presence, cultural awareness and strong communication (written and verbal) capabilities.

Job Description
- This Boston-based, leadership position will be a member of the Investment organization and work closely with the Systematic Equity Chief Investment Officer and management team, as well as the Client Coverage Group.
- This role will be responsible for overseeing the 6 core functions of the CPM team:
- Develop overall positioning of the firm's investment solutions i.e., act as the Brand Manager of the full systematic strategy capabilities
- Take overall accountability for ensuring the regional strategy set is ready for market in the target channels and geographies
- Represent the team's solutions and capabilities in client meetings, internal trainings, investment meetings and other forums where strong investment expertise and executive presence is required
- Work proactively with the investments leadership team to address competitive challenges arising from performance, risk management, perceived quality gaps, etc.
- Develop product and business strategy around index retention, as well as ways to target new potential markets or clientele – includes supporting firmwide cross selling initiatives
- Support client engagement and business development needs through written communications (i.e., RFPs, marketing materials and other thought leadership pieces)
Specific To This Role Are The Additional Responsibilities Of
- Serve as a Systematic Equity subject matter expert across both third party index and proprietary offerings, which include factor-based investing and active quantitative themes, in addition to our core business of traditional beta exposures.
- Collaborate closely with US Investment and Distribution teams to develop sales strategies and supporting materials
- Coordinate communication and cooperation between Investment and Client focused units
- Understand and drive team wide understanding of market and industry dynamics, including the competitor landscape and its impact on our products and client engagement strategy. Be able to articulate these dynamics, with internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Partner with research, strategy and portfolio management to drive the team's innovation agenda through a broad understanding of investment capabilities, client needs and competitor products.
- Meet with institutional and intermediary clients, prospects, and consultants to engage in detailed discussions about the firm's Systematic Equity capabilities.
- Contribute to effective thematic and market oriented thought leadership
- Work closely with the Systematic Equity CPM team on current and prospective client deliverables, and serve as a mentor/ role model to junior team members.
Qualifications
- 8+ years' experience in investment strategy, portfolio management, product management, investment research or an equivalent role
- Advanced degree in Business or Finance and/or CFA designation preferred
- Previous experience of US investment fund structures would be an asset.
- Familiarity with financial software (e.g. FactSet, Bloomberg) and developed quantitative skills (ideally including AI and/or programming experience)
- Strong commercial mindset with a proven track record of successfully engaging with clients and prospects to develop and retain business
- Ability to influence colleagues and work collaboratively to support broader business goals
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to execute independently yet also maintain strong team orientation
Salary Range
$135,000 - $217,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
