Greenwood Care, a Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Facility (SMHRF) in Evanston, IL, has an Immediate Opening for an Experienced Cook. This is a Part Time Position with Rotating Shifts, and an Hourly Pay Rate of$ ~This is s Union Position~

Responsibilities of the Successful Cook:

  • Prepare food in a timely manner in accordance with dietary requirements
  • Follow standardized recipes in food preparation
  • Inspect special dietary trays before service to ensure they are correct
  • May serve food on the food tray line
  • Supervise and/or assist in receiving and check in of deliveries of food and supplies
  • Follow work/cleaning schedules
  • Maintain clean, organized and safe kitchen

Requirements

of the Successful Cook:

  • Previous experience as a Cook
  • Must have Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) Certification and Sanitation Certification
  • Food Service Management Certification required
  • Must be able to interpret Resident Diet Cards
  • Capable of following written and oral instructions concerning methods of the preparation of foods and beverages
  • Familiar with seasonings, understand cooking times and follow sanitation requirements
  • Experience in a long term healthcare facility preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Professional and personable demeanor
  • Must have compassion, tolerance and understanding for patients
