Water Utilities New Service Coordinator

SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Operations Supervisor, responsible for coordinating the setup and installation of new water and sewer service connections to the existing water and wastewater systems. Also responsible for identifying water leaks, conducting tracer wire inspections associated with all new development, and investigates all damages to the water and sewer systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides estimates for customers inquiring about pricing for water or sewer system service connection in relation to; materials, equipment, incidentals, and labor costs needed for any installation performed by the water or wastewater collection teams.
Checks and reports tracer wire continuity on all water and wastewater lines associated with all new development.
During normal operating hours, investigates all reported water leaks in the system.
Works proficiently with leak detection equipment and software.
Monitors and prioritizes leaks in the system until they are repaired.
Works closely with the water distribution system and wastewater collection system supervisors to plan and coordinate work performed by the department.
Coordinates Arkansas One Call locate requests for the water distribution team.
Serves as a direct link between customers and service crews relating to new services or leak repairs.
Responds to and investigates all damage to the water and wastewater collection systems.
Occasionally assists the damage prevention team with completing Arkansas One Call locate requests.
Assists in updating and correcting the department's GIS map.
Assists in coordinating the placement and overwatch of the franchise utility installation. Works with contractors to ensure appropriate separation is met.
Assists in hydrant flushing efforts with the operations team as necessary.
Able and willing to work a rotational stand-by schedule and able to work overtime as needed.
This position is considered a first responder in the event of a citywide emergency or disaster situation. During such an event, this position will respond and perform tasks that are assigned based on the need of the situation.
Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules may be subject to change in order to meet City needs or operational requirements. Attendance at work and the ability to get along with the public, supervisors, and co-workers are essential elements of this position. Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and four (4) years related experience and/or training in the water and wastewater utility industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to read measuring devices.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's license.
- Possess or has the ability to obtain a Class IV Water Distribution Operator License.
- Possess or has the ability to obtain a Class II Wastewater Operator License.
- Must possess and maintain a personal telephone for emergency call-outs.
