We are currently searching for an Infection Preventionist IP Nurse to join our friendly, caring and supportive team
Our Infection Control Specialist will be working along with the Director of Nursing and impacting the lives of our residents by –
- Monitors and investigates known or suspected sources of infections to determine the source and ensure control. Reviews, analyzes, and implements infection control regulations, standards, and/or guidelines of applicable governmental agencies (i.e. IDPH, OSHA, etc.) and professional organizations.
- Consults with local health department, Medical Director and the Illinois department of Public Health to continue to comply and develop infection control policy and procedures. Contributes in the development and delivery of educational programs and/or tools that relate to infection prevention, control, and epidemiology.
- Reports infection surveillance, prevention and control to local, state and federal public health authorities in accordance with law and regulation.
- Provides assistance throughout the facility to ensure infection control practices and concerns are addressed.
- Assists in the maintenance of universal precaution practices in all departments through regular trainings, in services, and assuring competency with infection control measures.
- Conducts infection control checks/audits of designated nursing units every week, noting deficiencies and corrective actions and reports findings to the QAPI committee.
- Audits 24-hour report and reviews clinical records to identify problems, to ensure timely responses to residents' needs, to evaluate documentation skills of unit nursing staff, and to evaluate regulatory compliance with documentation requirements.
- Reviews quality measures data quarterly and lead quality measures improvement plan.
- Reviews and assesses all facility wide tracking and trending risks and ensures that corrective actions are taken. Conducts periodic audits of clinical records as designated by the Director/Assistant Director of Nursing; Participates in the QAPI meetings and shares audit information, analysis and trending. Ensures staff participation and obtains feedback in all quality assurance processes.
- Assists with the pre-survey process including preparation for survey, developing an action plan, and monitoring for compliance. Ensures that all annual performance improvement plans are reviewed, evaluated, approved and all necessary changes are implemented.
Qualifications:
- Active & Clear IL Nursing License (LPN or RN)
- Sufficient previous experience in long term care including direct experience in infection control.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, analyze, develop, implement and interpret the goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Infection Control Program
- Must possess the ability to provide educational presentations on the Infection Control Program. Must be able to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them in to existing infection control practices
