Description

The World Bank Group (WBG) is one of the world's largest sources of development assistance and knowledge for developing countries, with a mission to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity on a livable planet. The WBG consists of five institutions that specialize in different aspects of development: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

MIGA's mission is to promote foreign direct investment into developing countries, and it houses the WBG Guarantee Platform (WBG-GP), which brings together products and experts from IBRD, IDA, IFC, and MIGA for simplicity, efficiency, and speed.

The WBG-GP serves as a one-stop shop for all WBG guarantee business, providing the best guarantee solutions for clients to meet project needs and development priorities through three types of coverages: credit guarantees for loans to the public or private sector; trade finance guarantees for trade finance projects involving public entities; and political risk insurance against non-commercial risks for private sector projects or public-private partnerships.

About the Role:

MIGA Finance and Risk Management Group (MIGFR) is responsible for ensuring the Agency's financial integrity, income sustainability, risk management, reinsurance and data analytics.

MIGFR is seeking a Head, Business Data, Intelligence & Analytics, reporting to the MIGFR Director. This senior role will enhance MIGA's Data & Analytics function with the aim of enabling teams across MIGA to interact with and manipulate a broad spectrum of data—including operational, financial, and strategic information—in a more connected and integrated manner. By modernizing how MIGA accesses and uses data, the role will drive operational efficiencies and help uncover trends, address challenges, and identify opportunities as they arise—capabilities that are critical to effectively scaling the WBG Guarantee Platform.

The Head will also oversee the design, development, and management of applications and dashboards that translate data into actionable insights, ensure robust governance and quality, and steward the ongoing integration of related portfolios across the Platform. The position requires frequent engagement with WBG senior counterparts and MIGA senior management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and implementation of MIGA's analytics function and information strategy to support business objectives, risk management, and operational efficiency.

• Ensure that business applications and analytical capabilities effectively leverage organizational knowledge and strategic insights to inform decision-making, promote self-service and reusable data assets.

• Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of data to support decision-making across WBG's guarantee products and related portfolios; establish data quality controls, lineage, and governance to enable trusted reporting and insight generation.

• Manage MIGA and WBG-GP's guarantee and business intelligence platforms, ensuring robust data management, reliable reporting, and continuous improvement of platform capabilities and user experience.

• Drive the adoption of advanced analytics, business intelligence, and digital tools to enhance operational effectiveness, risk insight, and responsiveness to evolving business needs.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into data and application requirements; deliver actionable insights and products that support institutional, strategic, and operational goals.

• Contribute to the design and rollout of new products and guarantee structures; assess and facilitate their integration into accounting, finance, risk, and business applications to ensure seamless compliance, operationalization, and reporting.

• Serve as the key counterpart to MIGA's Portfolio team for amendments impacting guarantee entry, accounting, and related financial processes; establish protocols to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and audit readiness.

• Lead change management initiatives related to business analytics and platforms across the organization, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making through training, communications, and communities of practice.

• Represent MIGA in cross-functional working groups and external forums on data, analytics and platforms; advocate for interoperability and harmonized taxonomies across the WBG Guarantee Platform.

Selection Criteria

• A Master's degree (e.g., in accounting, finance, or a related field) and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience (e.g., in finance, business analytics and development of applications and dashboards) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience with product development and integration of new financial products into business applications and reporting frameworks

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable business insights

• Experience with MIGA's guarantee products, guarantee contracts and reinsurance contracts, financial reporting, policies and procedures, and the related applications & platforms is highly desirable.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior management, technical teams, and external partners.

• Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail while maintaining a clear sense of business priorities.

• Ability to articulate complex technical/data concepts to non-technical stakeholders and facilitate organization change by building consensus and resolving challenges

• Experience leading team in multicultural contexts, either as a manager or supervisor, including conducting performance evaluation, mentoring and holding team members accountable for quality and timely delivery

• Prior experience collaborating across WBG units or with the WBG Guarantee Platform is advantageous, including harmonizing taxonomies and integrating related portfolios.

WBG Culture Attributes:

1. Sense of urgency: Anticipate and quickly respond to the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
2. Thoughtful risk-taking: Challenge the status quo and push boundaries to achieve greater impact.
3. Empowerment and accountability: Empower yourself and others to act and hold each other accountable for results.
