Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as G Med and Athenahealth.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and process medical collections to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently using medical scheduling software; manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism and excellent phone etiquette.
- Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents, reviewing documentation for completeness, and updating patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with medical administrative support tasks including data entry, typing reports, and managing office correspondence using Microsoft Office tools.
- Support clinical staff by preparing care plans, reviewing documentation, and coordinating patient intake processes.
- Manage front desk operations including answering phones, managing appointment reminders, handling patient inquiries, and maintaining a clean and organized reception area.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment is highly preferred; clinic experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as G Med and Athena Health is essential for efficient workflow management.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures to support accurate documentation and coding practices.
- Demonstrated ability to handle insurance verification processes and Medicare/Medicaid billing requirements confidently.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations; bilingual abilities are advantageous.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), 10-key typing, and familiarity .
