Job Overview
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising daily activities of maintenance department to ensure efficient operations in a food processing facility. Responsible for ensuring all tasks performed by associates and others are performed safely, efficiently, and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality and Reliability. All functions in the areas of Maintenance Business Management, Maintenance Materials Inventory, Maintenance Recruiting, computerized maintenance management systems, preventive/predictive and corrective maintenance programs.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Plan, coordinate and advise department associates of work to be completed daily.
- Oversee daily set up of machinery and equipment prior to production for efficient and effective operation.
- Manufacturing Process Reliability and Equipment Reliability.
- Monitor packaging line efficiency.
- Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods (SQF)that meet regulatory and company requirements.
- Assist with developing and auditing Preventative Maintenance (PM) program.
- Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Technical Skills Management of electrical, electronics, controls programming, mechanical systems (process equipment, packaging equipment), stockroom, building and grounds, and utilities systems.
- Provide maintenance training to include the effective utilization of the maintenance logs, completion of routine maintenance specific to facility, equipment operations and support.
- Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Ensure the implementation of all repairs/modifications resulting from Gap assessments, plant audits, and notifications are executed on time and offer high-quality workmanship.
- Assists with developing department employee relations by continued communication of all information affecting them and through the conduct of periodical departmental meetings.
- Reports to Maintenance Director
- Communicate with outside agencies i.e. contractors, equipment suppliers, technical consultants, and vendors.
- Continuous and close coordination with the Maintenance Manager, Production and Quality Team Members, and Human Resource
- Conduct regular inspections of plant to seek out potential problems and to solicit operator feedback
- Assures compliance with government regulatory agencies.

Required Qualifications
- Degree in related Technical field is strongly preferred or relevant experience.
- Minimum of 1-5 years of related leadership experience in a Manufacturing environment is required
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and utility systems.
- Must have the knowledge of good manufacturing practices.
- Must be able to work flexible schedule to include days, afternoons, midnights, and weekend work.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be compassionate but be capable of upholding all safety and work rules, policies, and procedures.
- Must be able to work extended hours according to maintenance schedule.
- Ability to perform record keeping and mathematics necessary for employment purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrates sound judgment, leadership, organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Able to communicate and work effectively with all members of management.
- Possesses working knowledge and skills in tools and components used in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems such as bearings, gears, clutches, belts, and seals.
- Possesses skills in the area of direct current and alternating current circuits, and industrial electrical systems.
- Skilled in the theory and application of electronic devices, such as industrial applications including solid-state drives and industrial control systems.
- Experienced in the troubleshooting and operation of PLC systems.
- Ability to utilize computer hardware and Windows-based software in the creation and management of user information.
- Experienced with control and data-collection instrumentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems.
- Ability to utilize fundamental concepts and principles.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Regularly use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.
- Employee is consistently exposed to extreme cold temperatures and moderate noise levels on a regular basis.
- The employee is frequently required to reach, grasp, squeeze, using wrist flexion and extension with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand between 4-10 hours daily; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or overhead reaching.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to push/pull a manual pallet jack whether it is empty or loaded
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
