It is the foundation of The Memorial Experience.Summary:As a senior member of the Cancer Institute's leadership team, the Director of Radiation Oncology provides overall operational, technical and strategic leadership for Radiation Oncology across physician practices and technological modalities (including external beam modalities, CT simulation, high dose and low dose radiation, radionucleotide treatments, and intraoperative brachytherapy) for all network sites. Working under the direction of the VP, Oncology Service Line and with the Chief of Radiation Oncology, responsibilities include leading in the following areas: radiation therapy operations, supervision of staff, technology review, facilities planning/management (including leading major capital projects), general process improvement, network development and implementing department and institute clinical initiatives. The Director's role oversees operational and strategic management of the professional, technical (inpatient and outpatient), fiscal, human and information resources while ensuring compliance with standards and laws of external regulatory organizations. Develops and manages all practice and technical operating budgets and develops capital budgets for major and minor equipment needs. Develops business plans for current operations and future regional sites. Executes on new technologies and innovation. Develops, plans and implements strategies to ensure cost control, revenue enhancements, new business opportunities and strategic expansion. Supervises practice, advanced practitioner and technical staff (radiation therapists, dosimetrists, medical physicists, sterile processing) for complex provider and treatment scheduling and treatment delivery for inpatient and outpatient pediatric and adult patients.Responsibilities:Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental practice and hospital operating budgets. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Prepares analysis and forecasting for introduction of new programs and services.Plays key leadership role in large renovation projects and major capital improvements. Oversees space renovations, workflows, and relocations throughout the department.Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.Works with the Vice President, Cancer Service Line to establish and achieve long range goals for the Department of Radiation Oncology and ensures the implementation of strategic business plans that are aligned with the vision, strategic plans, and goals of the Cancer Institute.Performs other duties as assigned and required for business operations.Leads in developing strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize all aspects of clinical operations across all network sites.Develops and launches new strategic initiatives, particularly in the areas of new business, clinical strategy and operations.Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.Competencies:Education and Certification Requirements:Accredited Program: Radiation Therapy (Required)ARRT_American Registry of Radiology Tech (ARRT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Additional Job Information:Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
