Medical Biller

Medical biller position available in a well established, fast-paced medical practice in San Jose. Our office prides itself on our relationships and on being able to deliver the best in surgical care to our patients. We are searching for a friendly, warm, responsible, and dependable team member that understands and values customer service, health and the importance of treating patients like family. Must be self-motivated, require little supervision, and be willing to go above and beyond to ensure the success of our team. Must display excellent organizational and communication skills. A professional appearance, attention to detail, and excellent English verbal /written skills are a must. Spanish- or Vietnamese speaking is a plus. You must have at least 3 years of experience as a biller. We are in particular need of someone with expertise in appeals and collections. Expertise and experience as a medical coder is also a plus and will be considered. This is a KEY position and requires all of the above. Your responsibilities will include:

Being responsible for insurance and patient billing:

Checking insurance eligibility

Running end of day reports and deposit slips

Submitting claims through an electronic clearinghouse

Fixing claims that are kicked back and following up on those that are denied or incorrectly paid

Submitting appeals and working on outstanding claims

Working A/R Posting payments from electronic and paper EOBs and reconciling this to monies received

Submitting for insurance authorizations for patient visits/procedures

Working with patients as a financial counselor to determine and collect their copays/out-of-pockets, and cosmetic costs

Collecting Copays and patient payments, following up on outstanding patient balances

Experience:

• medical billing or coding: 3 years (Required)
