Rate: Up to 650 per day via an approved umbrella company**
Our client, a reputable organisation in the defence and IT sector, is hiring for a skilled SC Cleared Test Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical projects supporting military and government systems, with a contract running until 31 March 2026. The role offers a daily rate of up to £650 via an approved umbrella company.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and modify test scripts for acceptance testing of IT systems, focusing on Core/Hub Networks.
  • Prepare comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, scripts, evidence collection, defect reports, and progress updates.
  • Conduct formal and informal testing in line with the System Test Plan on Test & Development Rigs.
  • Support installation and configuration of Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2/16 core roles and features.
  • Document test procedures and contribute to release notes.
  • Collaborate with the IT&T team and report to project Test Managers to ensure testing aligns with project goals.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience in creating test documentation, performing functional, non-functional, and regression testing.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Server 2012R2/16 technologies such as AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Exchange, SfB, SQL.
  • Experience with military IS systems and Defence PKI is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with virtualisation (VDI, multi-tenancy), VMware VCP, and Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of NATO FAS, UK Base Services, MOD Business applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, critical thinking, and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Certifications such as MCSE/MCSA Server 2012R2 are advantageous.
