Boulder County invites interested individuals to submit applications for the role of Deputy District Attorney for the 20th Judicial District Attorney's Office. The Deputy District Attorney I is an entry level attorney; responsibilities include managing a county court docket and developing trial skills; acts as a professional representative of the Office of the District Attorney; follows office policies and procedures; seeks guidance, as necessary; demonstrates a strong work ethic and sound ethical judgment; works well with staff, victims, witnesses, co-workers, and court staff; treats co-workers, the public, defendants, and defense attorneys with respect; maintains the highest level of professionalism; at all times maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and ethics.The 20th Judicial District Attorney is an elected state official, whose office prosecutes adult and juvenile criminal charges, serves as an advisor to Boulder County law enforcement agencies, provides aid to victims and witnesses, appears before and advises grand juries, and pursues remedies for consumer fraud on behalf of individual residents of Boulder County.This is a full-time, benefited position with the 20th Judicial District Attorney's Office -Boulder County. Work hours are Monday through Friday, as well as periodic on call duty. The Deputy District Attorney will work out of the Boulder or Longmont office. Under FLSA guidelines this position is exempt.Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work. Salary/Hiring Range - $96,480-$102,288In addition to the Boulder County benefits, the District Attorney's Office offers: Work From Home two-days a week, if duties allow, after 6 months of employment with the officeAn enhanced Extended Parental Leave Policy for up to an additional 12 weeks of parental leave.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Examples of Duties1. Prepares and tries cases involving misdemeanor, traffic and petty offenses2. Assists the Chief Deputy in the intake of misdemeanor and traffic cases3. Explains and interprets statutes and status of various cases to the general public, and determines the adequacy of complaints presented by the public4. Assists district court and juvenile court deputies in the prosecution of routine felony matters5. Periodically serves on call to provide legal advice to law enforcement agencies and answer immediate questions from the general public6. Attorneys will be required, on occasion, to respond to crime scenes at all hours and weekends7. Candidates will be expected to have a strong work ethic and demonstrate good teamwork8. Performs related work, as required9. May be reassigned during emergency situations
